Prague at night
Guide

Prague by district • from Praha 1 to Praha 10

Prague is easier to understand once you know its numbered districts. Here is what each one is like and where visitors usually stay.

Why districts matter in Prague

Prague is split into numbered districts, and people use those numbers when they talk about where they live, work or stay. Knowing a few of them makes the city much easier to read. It also helps when you search for an escort, because a meeting in your own district saves time in a city where crossing from one side to the other can take half an hour. Escorts in Prague by district are listed on EscortPraha.

Praha 1 • the historic centre

Praha 1 is the Prague most visitors picture first. It covers the Old Town with its square, the Jewish Quarter, the Lesser Town below the castle, the castle district and a large part of the New Town around Wenceslas Square. Most hotels and short stay apartments for visitors are here, and so is most of the nightlife aimed at tourists. It is busy and lively late into the night.

Praha 2 and Praha 3 • Vinohrady and Žižkov

Praha 2 includes Vinohrady, a calm residential area with tree lined streets, cafés and many apartments, and the Vyšehrad fortress above the river. Praha 3 is mostly Žižkov, known for its TV tower and a high number of small bars. Both are a few minutes from the centre by tram or metro and are popular with visitors who rent an apartment.

Praha 4, 5 and 10 • the large southern, western and eastern districts

Praha 5 includes Smíchov and the Anděl area, a busy transport and shopping hub on metro line B with many business hotels. Praha 4 stretches south along the river through Nusle, Podolí and Braník. Praha 10 lies to the east with Vršovice and Strašnice. These districts are mostly residential, quieter at night and well connected to the centre.

Praha 6, 7, 8 and 9 • the north

Praha 6 covers Dejvice and Břevnov and the road out to the airport, so many people arriving late stay there. Praha 7 includes Holešovice and Letná, with galleries, the exhibition grounds and a growing café scene. Praha 8 includes Karlín, rebuilt over the last years with offices and modern hotels, and Libeň. Praha 9 is mainly residential and business parks.

Finding escorts in your district

  • Start with your own district. On EscortPraha every profile belongs to a district, so pick the one you are staying in first.
  • Check the next district too. Praha 1, 2 and 3 are close together, and so are Praha 7 and 8.
  • Read the profile carefully. It tells you whether the advertiser receives guests, visits hotels, or both.
  • Agree everything in advance. Time, place and price should be clear before you meet.

A few practical tips

Prague has three metro lines, A, B and C, plus trams that run through the night on the main routes, so most of the city is easy to reach. Many hotels ask visitors to register at reception, so check your hotel's rules before inviting a guest. Be polite, be on time and respect the advertiser's boundaries. All profiles are for adults aged 18 and over.
